Growing up in the 1970s, by far my favorite television show was The Muppets. While I enjoyed watching Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Gonzo, my favorite characters were Sam The Eagle, Animal, and (of course) Statler and Waldorf. For those of you who have read Truck Camper Magazine for any length of time, this probably makes perfect sense.
In the humble opinion of yours truly, one of the funniest skits ever on The Muppet Show was when Sam The Eagle presented an editorial on nudity (Episode 206). On October 24th, 1977 – at the tender age of 5 – I distinctly remember laughing so hard it hurt. Forty years later, Sam’s nudity editorial still makes me laugh.
In honor of Sam’s nudity editorial, this week’s Question of the Week asks about your truck camper clothing. Specifically, do you keep a separate set of clothing in your truck camper, or do you pack your clothing from home, and then bring it back?
Furthermore, we’re interested if you wear different clothing when you go truck camping versus when you’re at home. Do you keep clothing in your rig that’s better suited to truck camping?
We have noted that some truck campers keep a complete set of clothing in their campers – separate from their home clothing set. Some truck campers even have different types and brands of clothing when they go truck camping. For example, clothing by outdoor brands like Carhartt, Columbia, ExOfficio, and The North Face that might be lighter in weight, more compact to store, moisture wicking, or easier to wash.
This week’s Question of the Week is, “Do you bring your normal home clothes with you when you go truck camping, or do you have a separate and dedicated set of clothing for truck camping?”
If you have a different set of clothing in your camper, tell us why. If you wear a different clothing type when you go truck camping, tell us what you wear. And if you truck camp naked, please keep that to yourself. No need to get Sam upset again.
