“This photo was taken in June 2017 on the first road trip with my new truck and camper.  I went to Bridger Bay campground located on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake.  The sun was setting after I had walked back to camp following a soothing, floating soak in the lake.  The campground is primitive, and I felt right at home.  I didn’t need any hookups to enjoy testing the outside shower with hot and cold running water to rinse.  I was certainly one happy camper!”

“We were camped in Tucson enjoying the desert in mid-June and (not so much) the 120+ degree temperatures.  We were headed back to central California and cooler temperatures just after taking the picture.”

“My wife and I were dispersed camping in Cottonwood Canyon, Comanche National Grasslands looking for bighorn sheep.  We found this great spot surrounded by rocky cliffs and rough country, which was ideal for sheep viewing and hiking.”

“This picture was taken on my trip from South Padre, Texas to my brother’s home in Illwaco, Washington.  Highway 101 was fantastic as were the redwoods.”

“This photo was taken on June 22, 2017 and the temperature was 105 degrees.  Just as I was getting ready to take the picture, a tour bus pulled up right behind my truck and parked for thirty minutes.  I had to wait in the hot sun for the bus to leave when no cars were passing on the highway.”

“We started in Texas.  We drove up to North Dakota back down to South Dakota.  It was the first place worth taking a photo!”

“Bitter Springs Trail is a BLM backcountry byway forty miles outside of Las Vegas, just west of Valley of Fire State Park.

We have been through this trail in the Jeep, and found bountiful vistas and a number of places to dry camp.  We wanted to return when we could spend the night in the Grandby.  Since this area is still in the desert, camping would have to wait until the cooler months.

The weather cooperated in February.  We loaded up the truck, made our way down the rocky trail and found this great out-cropping of red rocks.  It had a natural fire alcove, so we settled in for the weekend.  We were hoping for clear starry filled skies but the clouds rolled in.  It was still a great time.  It was less than two hours from Vegas, but it seemed like a whole new world.  You gotta love truck camping!”

“I was heading back to Florida and folks visiting the North Carolina Visitor Center directed me to the Black Rock Mountain State Park in Georgia.  It was a nice place to relax and charge the battery.”
