It never ceases to amaze me how many truck campers carry knives and/or pocket multi-tools with them when they’re camping. We’ll be standing around a camper talking about how to fix a leaking exterior shower when someone whips out a Leatherman and gets to work. Two minutes later the door is off, the shower head has been pulled apart, and the likely culprit is found. Never forget to winterize your exterior showers!
Scenarios like this one repeat nearly every time we gather with fellow truck campers. It seems many of us carry pocket knives and tools, and put them to regular use on our truck camper rigs.
I have a DeWalt multi-tool with screwdrivers, pliers, and a knife blade. While I don’t always carry it, the DeWalt multi-tool always stays in an interior drawer of our camper alongside our most used tool; a Robertson screwdriver. Both are used regularly.
This week’s Question of the Week is, “Do you carry a pocket or belt holstered knife or multi-tool when you go truck camping?”
Maybe you carry a Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman multi-tool when you go truck camping. Or perhaps you have another pocket or belt holstered tool that you wouldn’t go truck camping without.
Please tell us the make and model of your pocket tool, and why you carry it. If you have a story about a time when it really saved your truck camping bacon, please include that too. We love saved bacon stories!
Please fill out the form below to tell us about your pocket tools.
