Every Thanksgiving, Angela and I drive our car from our home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Angela’s family in Baltimore, to my family in Philadelphia, and back home to Lancaster.
Along the way we see lots of motorhomes, travel trailers, and the occasional truck camper. Since late November isn’t exactly peak RV season in the Northeast, our guess has always been that folks use their RVs to visit friends and family for the holidays.
If your family has a flat driveway, and a place to plug in, staying in your rig could be a great way to go. You get to sleep in your own bed, make your own coffee in the morning, and have your own space. That space could really make the difference, especially if your family doesn’t have a big house, or private guest quarters.
Of course truck campers can be used for other activities during the holidays. You could use the opportunity to visit parks that may be empty during the holiday season.
You can also drive through otherwise congested areas on holidays to avoid the traffic. We once drove through Los Angeles on Christmas day with hardly any traffic. We then drove back through LA on New Years Day, again with little traffic. Don’t try that on a Monday morning.
Now that the holidays are over, we were wondering if you used your truck camper for the holidays.
This week’s Question of the Week is, “Do you use your truck camper over the holidays?” For the holidays, we specifically mean Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
Please fill out the form below to share your experience with your truck camper during the holidays.
